GRAPHIC DESIGN

Updated: Mar 26

Graphic design is indispensable in the realm of marketing and communications, serving as a powerful tool for conveying messages effectively and enhancing brand identity. Through visually compelling designs, I captivate audiences, reinforce brand messaging, and leave a lasting impression. From eye-catching advertisements to engaging social media graphics, I plays a pivotal role in attracting and retaining audience attention in today's visually-driven world. By aligning design elements with marketing strategies, I have helped organizations communicate their value proposition, differentiate themselves from competitors, and foster meaningful connections with their target audiences.

Here are some of my favourite projects:

Government of the Northwest Territories | FireSmart Campaign

An important annual campaign that promotes fire safety. Many northerners rely on wood burning stoves and fireplaces for heat in their homes and/or cabins. This campaign provides education on keeping homes safe from potential fire danger.

Working with the strict branding guides lines set by the Government of the Northwest Territories, these FireSmart ads were illustrated and designed by myself in 2018.

Hunter Amenities | Retail and Amenity Packaging

During my time at Hunter Amenities, an acclaimed global manufacturing firm headquartered in Burlington, Ontario, I crafted numerous packaging designs for renowned hospitality and retail brands worldwide.

Aboriginal Sports Circle | Pop Up Banners

The Aboriginal Sports Circle NWT sought an updated design suitable for diverse events, serving as a prominent highlight for the organization and a versatile backdrop.

We crafted a unified northern panorama featuring the Northwest Territories landscape with a vibrant aurora while also effectively showcasing the organization and its programs. Each banner could stand on its own or be used as a whole for larger events.

Government of the Northwest Territories | Cannabis Panels

Upon the legalization of cannabis in Canada in 2018, the Government of the Northwest Territories initiated a public education campaign. Utilizing pre-existing print literature, we crafted four panels to visually communicate key facts about cannabis laws and associated health effects. In certain instances, the client prefers leveraging existing resources, opting for updates rather than a complete overhaul.

Cochrane & Area Humane Society - Apparel Graphics

Designing graphics for an apparel fundraiser targeting animal lovers, I offered several options, and our team ultimately selected two designs. The first, a simple design promoting kindness, adorned a women's tank top. The second featured a universal adventure theme (with a dog), suitable for both men and women. The success of these designs resonated well, and the apparel line successfully generated funds for the shelter and is still being used today!

Stantec - Boardroom Window Frosting

The boardroom at the Stantec office in the City of Yellowknife faced a privacy challenge due to its direct view of the main entrance and reception area.

The client's requirement was to introduce privacy without completely obstructing the visual connection between the boardroom and reception.

To address this, I proposed a design solution involving frosted windows extending a third of the way up. This design incorporated the Stantec logo and values, enhancing the windows' visual appeal while ensuring the strategic branding message remained a focal point

Top of the World Travel - Promotional Package Design

Top of the World Travel, based in Yellowknife, NWT, sought to create a unique promotional item for their customers and clients, aligning with their travel-themed brand. Opting for a candy giveaway with customizable packaging, I incorporated the company logo and colour and created a transparent airplane shape, allowing recipients to view the candy inside, which maintained brand consistency and ensured a visually appealing and on-brand promotional item for the client.

Government of the Northwest Territories | FIT Test Poster

The Government of the Northwest Territories initiated a public education campaign about the new home Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) kits . Utilizing fun cartoon style imagery to show how quick, easy and not scary the test can be.

Avens Seniors Community | Employee Years of Service Board

Avens Seniors Community wanted a way to highlight employees and their milestone years of service. They required the ability to update the board and the names in the case of employees leaving or needing to be moved to a different section. I suggested a name directory that can be branded and placed on display in the facility. This will give them the ability to update the names easily in the future. I worked directly with a vendor to produce the board according to the measurement specifications provided by the client. Once a layout and design was approved, the full board was assembled on site and the name plates added.

Bayview Flowers | Seasonal Product Catalogues

At Bayview Flowers, seasonal product catalogues were a favourite project! From orchestrating individual product photography to conceptualizing themes and selecting locations, every catalogue was nurtured from inception to completion. Images were meticulously edited and color-corrected, while the design and layout of each catalogue received thoughtful consideration and attention to detail.

Large Format Signage

Sample photos of large format projects.

Large scale banners designed and printed for a liquor promotion at the Queenston Lewston Duty Free Store at the Canadian/US border in Queenston, Ontario.

Outdoor signage promoting a retirement residence.

Billboard Design for a realtor team in Niagara Falls, Ontario
