VOLUNTEERING

Cochrane & Area Humane Society

Rural Rescue & Education Program

The Cochrane & Area Humane Society partners with communities and other animal rescue organizations to assist underserved communities with their animal welfare needs. Rural communities often require unique support and animal welfare services to ensure the health of animals and people in the communities. I was proud to volunteer by assisting with managing the free food program, aiding in acquiring surrendered animals to bring back to the shelter, and sponsored vaccine clinics on the reserve.

Vaccine Clinics The Cochrane & Area Humane Society receives monetary grants where funds are used to hold vaccine clinics in rural areas. I volunteered for a clinic held in Stoney Nakoda Nation. A wonderful opportunity where I was able to help with set up, organization, participant registration, and assisting the veterinarians during vaccine administration. A fantastic turnout with many animals receiving their vaccines, dewormers and microchips.

Fundraising Events

Throughout the year, the Cochrane & Area Humane Society hosts and participates in a variety of events aimed at raising needed funds for the shelter. From elegant galas to third party fundraisers, I took great pride in dedicating my time to being a member of the event committee. I contributed to planning and executing several events during my time as a volunteer member.
